Early this morning it was reported that dancehall star Vybz Kartel (born, Adidja Palmer)escaped from the Horizon Adult Remand Centre in Jamaica with other inmates, after holding officers at gunpoint. Now the Jamaican Observer reports that the story was only a rumor, with Jamaican police claiming no knowledge of the incident.
According to the Observer, The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Les Green, said that the reports are false. “I know nothing about that. If that had taken place I would would certainly have known,” he said. Another unnamed police officer added, “It may be an attempt by his cronies to keep him in the news but they don’t need to spread rumours to do that because he will be in the news for quite some time.”
Judge Michael Pastor threw the book at Dr. Conrad Murray, sentencing him to 4 YEARS IN PRISON. But Murray will not spend a single day in prison because of a new California law. He’ll serve his time in L.A. County Jail. And in jail, at most Murray will only serve half the sentence.
The judge was angry, talking repeatedly about Dr. Murray’s documentary in which he laid the blame at Michael Jackson’s doorstep. The documentary clearly weighed in the judge’s decision to give Murray the max.
As for restitution, Judge Pastor ordered Dr. Murray to pay “appropriate restitution” to the Estate and to MJ’s kids at a later date … but the judge seemed dubious about the $100 million request by the prosecution.
Judge Pastor ruled Murray must pay an $800 fine, a $30 court security fee, and a $40 criminal conviction assessment.
Judge Pastor said, “There are those who feel Dr. Murray is a saint. There are those who feel he’s the devil. He is neither. He’s a human being.”
17 year old Justin Combs, Diddy‘s and celebrity stylist Misa Hylton Brimm first born son, has announced he will attend UCLA in the Fall on a full ride football scholarship. Justin currently plays at New Rochelle’s Iona Prep as a defensive back, and holds a 3.75 GPA.
Justin says “Playing Division I football was a lifelong dream of mine, and through hard work I was able to achieve it,” Combs said in a statement released by his family earlier today.
Diddy‘s thoughts on his son:
“As a parent, this is one of the proudest moments of my life,” Sean Combs said in a statement. “This is everything a father could want in his son, for him to excel at what he loves to do.”
Some feel Justin doesn’t deserve a athletic scholarship because his father is loaded with money. Athletic scholarships are awarded based on a person’s ability to play a sport not their parents finances. There are different variations concerning academic vs athletic scholarships.
